Cambridge ESOL Examinations include various levels such as KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE.  Certificates cover basic exams for those beginning to learn English, through to advanced certificates for those who have attained a high level of fluency.

These exams are recognised around the world by employers, universities and government ministries as proof of ability to use English.

In these courses the teacher provides effective practice in all areas covered by examination requirements.  The learning programme is organised in such a way as to provide a solid grounding in the linguistic tasks tested by the examiners.  Small group tuition and individual attention by our teachers contributes to the motivation needed by the students to maximise their performance in the exam.

Cambridge ESOL Examinations & CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

KET (Key English Test) → CEFR A2
PET (Preliminary English Test) → CEFR B1
FCE (First Certificate in English) → CEFR B2
CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) → CEFR C1
CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) → CEFR C2

At the end of the course you are given the opportunity to sit for the examination in Malta or in your home country.

    IELTS 3.0 IELTS 3.5 - 4.5 IELTS 5.0 - 6.0 IELTS 6.5 - 7.0 IELTS 7.5+

The course covers the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking, and prepares students for the IELTS examination. 

In this course the teacher provides effective practice in all areas covered by examination requirements.  The learning programme is organised in such a way as to provide a solid grounding in the linguistic tasks tested by the examiners.  Small group tuition and individual attention by our teachers contributes to the motivation needed by the students to maximise their band scores as much as possible.

In IELTS:

  • a band score of 3.0 is equivalent to CEFR Level A 2
  • a band score of between 3.5 and 4.5 is equivalent to a CEFR Level B1
  • a band score of between 5.0 and 6.0 is equivalent to a CEFR Level B2
  • a band score of between 6.5 and 7.0 is equivalent to a CEFR Level C1
  • a band score of 7.5 and above is equivalent to a CEFR Level C2


IELTS is accepted by thousands of organisations in more than 120 countries.

TOEFL® iBT Preparation Course

TOEFL® iBT is an internet based test which can be taken in Malta after completing your course.  The test is an entry requirement for admission to most tertiary educational institutions in the Western World — including the top colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia and New Zealand.  The scoring system gives you points out of 120 and most universities require a score of 85 100.

In this course the teacher provides effective practice in all areas covered by the test requirements.  The learning programme is organised in such a way as to provide a solid grounding in the linguistic tasks tested by the examiners.  Small group tuition and individual attention by our teachers contributes to the motivation needed by the students to maximise their performance in the TOEFL® iBT.

In TOEFL® iBT:

  • a score of 38 56 is equivalent to a CEFR Level A2
  • a score of 57 – 86 is equivalent to a CEFR Level B1
  • a score of 87 – 109 is equivalent to a CEFR Level B2
  • a score of 110 – 120 is equivalent to a CEFR Level C1


The TOEFL® iBT takes approximately four hours to complete and is administered via internet secure ETS centres.  The test is held on a monthly basis and classes run throughout the year.  For more information please visit: www.toefl.org
